MAN CONVICTED FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SEMI-AUTOMATIC GLOCK AND STEALING FROM SAKS FIFTH AVENUE

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Adonte Bailey (22), after a trial by jury for multiple gun charges and shoplifting from Saks Fifth Avenue. Mr. Bailey was convicted of second-degree commercial burglary (PC 459), grand theft (PC 487(a)), two counts of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place (PC 25850(a)), two counts of carrying a concealed firearm (PC 25400(a)(2)), and one count of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm (PC 29820(b)). In addition, the court found true allegations that Mr. Bailey was not the registered owner of the firearms (PC 25400(c)(6)(a)) and that the firearms were loaded (PC 25400 (c)(6)(b)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Bailey accountable and makes us all safer as he flagrantly disregarded our laws in his escalating criminal behavior.”

According to evidence and other testimony presented at trial, on November 21, 2022, San Francisco Police Officers found Mr. Bailey with two loaded Glock-style P80 ghost guns in his possession in the area of Carrizal and Geneva Streets. One of the firearms had a loaded extended magazine and was on his ankle while the other was in his backpack. Mr. Bailey is prohibited from possessing firearms. After he was criminally charged and released on his own recognizance, on March 22, 2024, Mr. Bailey was arrested with a ghost gun after stealing two items from the Balenciaga section of Saks Fifth Avenue worth $1,725.

The case against Mr. Bailey was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Abigail Adams, with assistance from District Attorney Investigators Scott Wong and Sammy Kim, paralegals Rayna Bryan and Sara Wong as well as IT support from Leland Chan, Noaeh Pinaire and Ada Yu. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Bailey based on the investigation of the San Francisco Police Department’s Ingleside and Central Stations as well as the Crime Gun Investigations Center.

“When people who are prohibited from possessing firearms obtain them anyway without legal justification, they do so at the expense of the safety of the community at large,” said Assistant District Attorney Abigail Adams. “I am grateful to the jury for engaging in a thoughtful deliberation to reach a just verdict in this case.”

Mr. Bailey is currently in custody. Sentencing is scheduled for March 3, 2025.
