MAN CONVICTED IN VIOLENT ARMED HOME INVASION ROBBERY IN CROCKER AMAZON

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Montana Jones (22), after a trial by jury for a violent home invasion robbery in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood. Mr. Jones was convicted of four counts of first-degree residential robbery in Concert (PC 211) with enhancements for a principal armed with a firearm (PC 12022(a)(1)); one count of carjacking with an enhancement for principal armed with a firearm (PC 12022(a)(1)). Mr. Jones was also convicted of first-degree residential burglary (PC 459) with a hot prowl enhancement found true.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict delivers justice to the victims and ensures that there will be consequences for this horrific crime. My office will fight for justice on behalf of victims in the courtroom and vigorously prosecute violent crime. We will work collaboratively with law enforcement to identify, arrest and develop strong cases to ensure that violent offenders face justice.”

According to evidence and other testimony presented at trial, four armed men, clad all in black and wearing ski masks and gloves, drove from East Oakland at three in the morning on February 14, 2024, to a house in a residential area of San Francisco. The men knocked on the doors and yelled out “Police!” before smashing their way into the home. They quickly went to the bedrooms where residents were sleeping and violently accosted them with their firearms, demanding to know where the residents kept their valuables. One suspect hit one of the residents in the head with a firearm when he spoke in Cantonese. That resident and his wife were then forced at gunpoint into the bathroom. Another resident was forcibly disrobed by the suspects and pushed into a bathroom at gunpoint where a suspect hit him in the face. The suspects ransacked the house, stealing jewelry, cash, the keys to a BMW SUV, and other items. When the suspects left, they took the BMW that was parked in the driveway.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys John Roman and Korey M. Bell, with assistance from paralegal Melissa Cruz and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Victim Advocates Wesley Chu, Tony Leung and Ariel Edwards and District Attorney Investigators Glenn Pon, John Lenny, and Michael Beaver also provided invaluable assistance. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Jones based on outstanding police work, careful investigation and strong collaboration between the San Francisco Police Department’s Strategic Investigations Unit, Community Violence Reduction Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“This was a violent and deeply disturbing crime that violated the sanctity of the home of peaceful San Franciscans,” said Assistant District Attorney John Roman. “Our office is committed to pursuing justice for the victims and ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable under the law.”

“The victims of this heinous crime have suffered greatly; it is likely that they will remember it for a long time,” said Assistant District Attorney Korey M. Bell. “I am proud of our work, and I hope that this result will deliver some level of closure.”

Mr. Jones is currently in custody. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 25, 2025.
