San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Fredy Gomez-Orozco (44), after a trial by jury of multiple sexual assault charges for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl over two days in 2021. Mr. Gomez-Orozco was convicted of forcible oral copulation of a minor (PC 287(c)(2)(C)), two counts of sexual battery by restraint (PC 243.4(a)) and one count of sexual battery (PC 243.4(e)(1)).
“I would like to thank the survivor for her courage and resilience,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “I hope that this verdict helps her heal from these traumatic incidents. My office takes these cases seriously and will do everything we can to ensure that justice is served.”
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, the survivor was sexually assaulted by Mr. Gomez-Orozco over a two-day period in October of 2021. She was 15 years old at the time. On October 2, 2021, Mr. Gomez-Orozco hugged her from behind as she was standing at the kitchen sink washing the dishes while he was alone with her. Mr. Gomez-Orozco restrained her and then put his hands under her shirt and bra, fondling her breasts. He also put his hand down her pants, touching her vagina.
The next day, on October 3, 2021, he escalated his criminal conduct when he was again alone with the survivor. He told her he would pay her for every hug she gave him and then forcibly orally copulated her. She fought him off and ran to the bathroom where she was able to call her mother. The incidents were reported to San Franciso Police that night.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michele Brass, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Lessa Vivian, Paralegal Andrew Ong, and Victim Advocate Abigail Cordova who worked closely with the survivor and her mother throughout this case. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Gomez-Orozco because of the outstanding investigation of the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
“This case is a testament to the power and strength of the sexual assault survivor,” said Assistant District Attorney Michele Brass. “I want to thank the jurors for providing justice for the survivor who displayed tremendous courage in not only reporting this egregious conduct, but also throughout this long trial process. I am honored to have met and worked with her and her mother who was a true champion for her daughter. The jurors sent a strong message that this betrayal and unacceptable conduct by the defendant should not be tolerated.”
Mr. Gomez-Orozco is currently in custody pending a hearing on the charged aggravated factors.
