San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Kim Andrews (37), has been charged in connection to an incident in Golden Gate Park on July 19, 2024. Ms. Andrews is scheduled to be arraigned today, November 26, 2024, in Department 10 of the Hall of Justice at 1:30 PM. She is charged with one count of child endangerment (PC 273(a)(a)) and one count of making criminal threats (PC 422). Prosecutors moved to have Ms. Andrews detained pending trial because of the public safety risk she poses.
“My office will do everything in our power to ensure that children are safe in our city,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “We will fight in the courtroom for justice for this family who were out enjoying a summer walk in the park. Child endangerment and making threats to anyone, especially to children and vulnerable victims, will not be condoned.”
According to court documents, on July 19, 2024, at approximately 5:05 PM a woman and her 18-month-old toddler were walking along the park path, behind McLaren Lodge at 501 Stanyan Street. As they walked, they were approached by Ms. Andrews who was in possession of a lighter and an aerosol Lysol can. Upon seeing the toddler, Ms. Andrews allegedly said, “OH, A BABY!” and while shaking the Lysol can, began screaming, “YOU’RE GOING TO DIE!”, “YOU’RE GOING TO DIE!” The mother grabbed her toddler and attempted to flee while Ms. Andrews allegedly chased her.
SFPD obtained a warrant for Ms. Andrew’s arrest shortly after the incident. Ms. Andrews was surrendered on the arrest warrant yesterday.
Although charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
